NIGHT OPTICS - Engineering and Product Manager #112-13

Responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating Night Optics Product Roadmap by conceiving, designing, sourcing, updating, and retiring products to increase Night Optics sales and market share. Responsible for designing new image-intensifier, thermal, and digital products to develop Night Optics brand as leader in its market-space.

Exercise ownership of Night Optics Product Roadmap in support of General Manager and achievement of corporate goals;
Maintain a very high level of industry, product, technology, and competitor knowledge;
Together with Night Optics Marketing and General Manager, identify product gaps and determine appropriate course of action;
Design night vision and related products to the level of prototype production;
Plan for product obsolecense and determine/recommend appropriate course of action;
Coordinate with Bushnell personnel where appropriate to maximize efficiencies;
Together with Night Optics Marketing and General Manager, determine/develop product features/enhancements to extend product lifecycles and meet customer demands/requirements; Identify, capture, and manage best sources for Night Optics products throughout product lifecycle; Conduct source selection reviews and inspections to ensure best value and quality for Night Optics products; Travel as required to meet position goals; Create electronic documents in standard Microsoft Office Suite programs and enter information into online systems such as ERP, CRM, and/or MRP; Ensure that all activities comply with all U.S. Government laws, rules, and regulations;
Perform other duties as assigned by Night Optics General Manager to achieve corporate objectives.

Huntington Beach, California

Education:Bachelor of Science degree in a hard science discipline from an acredited four year college or university and 5 years related experience, or seven-ten years related experience. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or other relevant degree preferred. Advanced degree desired, but experience favored over advanced degree. Experience in night vision or other complex electronic product design preferred. Creativity and imagination to propel Night Optics to new levels of success. Proven success in a similar role highly valued. 

Years of Related Experience: Minimum of five years related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: This position requires proven engineering and product management skills; working knowledge and previous experience with design/product management of Night Vision equipment or similarly complex electronic equipment strongly desired; knowledge and/or experience with military and/or law enforcement technologies/applications desired; knowledge and experience with firearms desired; a strong work ethic; proven ability to organize work effectively and efficiently; the proven ability to operate independently, but in team environment when necessary; an entrepreneurial mindset; the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages; attention to detail; ability to interact effectively with foreign colleagues and production sources; and the ability to accomplish tasks in a high-pressure environment with short deadlines.

Computer Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus. Proficiency with design software packages (e.g., circuit design software and/or mechanical design software) as required by the position.  

Language Skills: Native proficiency in English language essential, to include ability to read and analyze professional/technical journals, abilty to write reports and business correspondence, ability to effectively present information and respond to highly technical questions; Proficiency in other language(s) (e.g., Russian, Chinese) highly valued.
