Manager of Demand Planning #129-13
Summary:
Strategic role; is responsible for leading the Demand Planning department. Develop and drive process excellence around demand planning and inventory optimization. Develop both short-term and long-term inventory strategies while managing highly variable demand. Lead the deployment of Demand Planning and Replenishment modeling and systems solutions as appropriate. The position charter is to improve overall inventory turnover; deliver improvements on forecast accuracy, and maximize customer service, while minimizing working capital.
Description:
Identify and integrate best practice programs to ensure the short and long term success of the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process globally. Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a Sales and Operations Planning improvement roadmap; -outlining the “to be” process and specific projects in this area
Responsible for the multi-site strategic volume planning activities (long-term demand planning) as the input to operational and sourcing planning.
Provide development, training and coaching in order to maintain a talent pool that assures a high performance organization. Ensure the cross-fertilization of know-how within the organization to enhance performance.
Drive the development of the consensus forecast in conjunction with the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process. Improve forecast accuracy.
Ownership of demand and replenishment system strategy, including changes and improvements, long term planning and execution.
Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Sales, Product Management & Sourcing to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
Harmonize best practices, develop people, leverage technology and articulate the vision of the demand planning function
Oversee and support the configuration and deployment of the demand planning and replenishment modules
Develop and manage the achievement of annual, quarterly and monthly inventory plans in alignment with working capital budgets
Develop exception management practices proactively identifying potential inventory and/or service level risks and develop associated risk abatement strategies

Qualifications:
Education: 4-year college degree in related field.
Minimum of 7 years of related and demonstrated successful experience in Demand Planning
Experience managing and implementing a Sales and Operational Planning process &/or multi-site inventory planning experience
Strong knowledge of; demand & replenishment software, forecast modeling, inventory/safety stock strategies, sales and operations planning
Working knowledge of ERP/ MRP, Forecast Models & Inventory Strategies
Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective communications and working relationships across diverse functional areas
Practical knowledge of statistical packages and/or forecasting tools (i.e. John Galt Forecast X or similar)
Supervised, coached, mentored and developed a team of Merchandise/Demand Planners
Operated across geographic and cultural boundaries
